Our Forgotten Para-Athletes

Who will ever forgot the hurrah and excitement all Malaysian felt when the country won its first gold in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. It was won by Bonnie Bunyau Gustin of Sarawak, in the powerlifting. The subsequent two gold medals were won by Abdul Latif Romly and Cheah Liek Hou, in athletics and badminton respectively. Let’s not forget also the two silver medals that was clinched Chew Wei Lun and Jong Yee Khie.

Beijing Winter Olympics

The 2022 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XXIV Olympic Winter Games is scheduled to take place from 4 to 20 February 2022, in Beijing and towns in the neighbouring Hebei province in the People’s republic of China. Beijing was elected as the host city on July 2015 at the 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It will also be the first Winter Olympics to be held in China, the second overall Olympics to be held in China (after Beijing 2008).

Kudos! The Malaysian Diver Who Did Her Best

Malaysian diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri has been trending all over social media after coming in fourth at the women’s 3m springboard finals at the Tokyo Olympics. The 22-year-old scored 326.15 points in the event, just missing out on a bronze medal, behind the USA’s Krysta Palmer. The top two spots went to Chinese divers Shi Tingmao (gold) and Wang Han (silver).

Malaysian Athletes Deserve More Credit

The Tokyo Olympic is finally in place, and as we nervously watched the match that ensue between our badminton player Lee Zii Jia and China’s Chen Long yesterday, the match really had us at the edge of our seats. But alas, Lee falls to defending Olympic champion Chen Long after three sets in round of 16. Lee took the first set with a 21-8 score before the Chinese world No. 6 took the second set 21-19 eventually racing to a 21-5 win in the third set.
