Domestic Tourism Back on Track

After the successful reopening of Langkawi Island on 16 September, the Malaysian government has decided to open top tourist spot for visitors from 1 October onwards, namely Melaka, Tioman and Genting Highlands. This news clearly is exciting to many, as majority of the population has been having the cabin fever ever since interstate travel and tourism are prohibited due to the pandemic. Melaka, however, will postpone receiving domestic tourist, its chief minister said. Instead, the state will only do so after 90 percent of the country’s adult population has been fully vaccinated.

Thailand Is Reopening Bangkok Next Month

Thailand plans to reopen Bangkok and other key destinations to foreign tourists next month with aims to revive its travel industry after it has been bruised by the pandemic. According to Nikkei Asia, Thailand’s annual tourist industry revenues plunged 71 percent last year and have fallen 74 percent year on year during the first six months this year. Tourism and related business accounted to roughly 20 percent of annual gross domestic product in pre-Covid times.

Langkawi Is Re-Opening Its Door in September 16

After many months of lock downs and restrictions on travelling, Malaysia is finally reopening Langkawi islands in an effort to rebuild tourism, the sector worst hit by the pandemic. According to Prime Minister Ismail Sabri, Langkawi will open to locals under a travel bubble plan from September 16. Other destinations will be allowed to operate when the locality’s vaccination rate reach 80 percent, he said in a statement.

List Of UNESCO New Heritage Sites
