McDonald Australia designed a custom PlayStation 5 DualSense controller internally as part of its 50th birthday celebration. However, the plan was scrapped during the planning phase. In a statement to IGN, McDonald’s Australia stated that “the image was provided to media in error and there is no commercial relationship between McDonald’s Australia and Sony PlayStation.”
The controllers were covered with the brand’s signature Big Mac and Fries, with yellow-coloured buttons and a McDonald logo centred on the touchpad. McDonald’s Australia previously told Australian site PressStart, “Sony PlayStation has not authorised the use of its controller in promotional materials related to the proposed Stream Week event and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. McDonald’s Stream Week has been postponed and Sony PlayStation controllers will not be included in the giveaway.”
Would you be excited to purchase a McDonald themed controller should they design and sell it? Well, personally, I would not because it would entice me to eat McDonald everytime I look at it. But, each to their own.
