11 Picasso paintings and works owned by casino and group MGM Resorts in Las Vegas are due to go up for auction in October, according to report by BBC. The sale will take place on 23 October at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas. The sale includes works on paper and ceramics, in addition to five paintings, some of which were displayed at the Bellagio hotel’s Picasso restaurant.
The auction coincides with the 140th anniversary of the artist’s birth. Below are some of Picasso’s masterpiece:
1. Picasso’s Femme au béret rouge-orange (1938)
The young blonde woman in this painting is unmistakably Marie-Thérèse Walter, since 1927 Picasso’s mostly hidden mistress and the mother of his second child, their daughter Maya. According to BBC, the painting is expected to sell for between $20 million to $30 million.
2. Homme et Enfant (1969) & Buste d’homme
Homme et Enfant (pictured left) is valued at $30 million, while Buste d’homme (pictured right) has an estimated worth of $15 million.
3. Nature morte au panier de fruits
This was painted by Picasso during the Nazi occupation in Paris. It is valued at $10 million to $15 million.
